Senior DevOps & Automation Engineer
About the role
We're recruiting a hands-on Senior DevOps & Automation Engineer to own and modernise the pre-production and proving environments of a leading financial services organisation. This is an automation-first role with a strong troubleshooting focus — roughly 50% building and enhancing automation, and 40% diagnosing and resolving complex deployment, environment, and platform issues.
You'll be the engineer others escalate to when deployments fail, environments go unstable, or recurring operational issues hit delivery — investigating across applications, middleware, infrastructure, and tooling, finding root cause, and building permanent automated fixes. Pre-production here is treated with the same discipline, governance, and urgency as production.
Day to Day
Lead investigation of deployment failures and environment issues, troubleshooting across application, middleware, OS, network, and infrastructure layers.
Perform deep root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
Analyse pipeline failures, logs, monitoring data, and infrastructure events; support critical releases and major incidents.
Design, build, and maintain automation using Ansible, Python, Terraform, and Jenkins.
Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption and build reusable, self-service capability so teams can unblock themselves.
Improve monitoring, logging, and operational visibility; standardise deployment across platforms.
Contribute to platform modernisation — OpenShift, containers, cloud — and to documentation and service standards.
Partner with the existing SME to capture and automate manual processes, promoting automation best practice.
What we're looking for
- Deep troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capability under pressure.
- Strong hands-on Ansible, Terraform, and Python scripting.
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.
- Git / GitHub / GitLab and branching workflows.
- Jenkins pipeline administration and development.
- Solid Linux administration (Windows awareness acceptable).
- Nice to Have
- 5+ years supporting enterprise applications or platforms.
- Release and deployment management practice.
- Containers — ECS, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.
- Cloud — AWS preferred (Azure/GCP acceptable).
- Enterprise-scale, regulated environment experience.
- Monitoring and observability tooling; certificates knowledge (SSL/MTLS).
- Proven record of replacing manual processes with automation, and of upskilling colleagues resistant to change.
- Financial services / regulated sector background; security and compliance automation; DORA metrics.
- Exposure to Agentic AI / GenAI for operational automation, incident remediation, or deployment validation.

Senior Environment Automation Engineer
About the role
We're recruiting a hands-on Senior Environment Automation Engineer to automate, standardise, and continuously improve environments across the full software delivery lifecycle — from System Test through to Production — for a leading financial services organisation.
This is an automation-first engineering role centred on environment provisioning, configuration management, deployment automation, and platform reliability. You'll build the automation that makes delivery secure, repeatable, and reliable across every environment — and you'll be the engineer who investigates the complex environment, deployment, and platform issues others get stuck on, finds root cause, and fixes them permanently rather than with manual workarounds.
Day to Day
Design, build, and maintain automation for environment provisioning, configuration, and operational support using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Jenkins.
Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption across the estate, from System Test to Production.
Build self-service capability so delivery teams can complete standard environment requests without manual intervention.
Lead investigation of environment issues, deployment failures, and platform instability — troubleshooting across application, middleware, OS, network, infrastructure, and tooling layers.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions; support critical releases and major incidents.
Support Jenkins pipeline administration and enhancement, and improve deployment reliability across all environments.
Introduce deployment controls, validation checks, and automated guardrails.
Improve monitoring, logging, and operational visibility; contribute to platform modernisation (OpenShift, containers, cloud).
Ensure automation aligns with governance, control, and audit expectations, with clear runbooks and documentation.
- Release and deployment management, environment promotion strategies, and controlled production change processes.
- Containers — OpenShift or Kubernetes.
- Cloud — AWS preferred (Azure/GCP acceptable).
- Enterprise-scale, regulated environment experience.
- Monitoring and observability tooling; certificates knowledge (SSL/MTLS).
- Proven record of replacing manual processes with automation.
- Financial services / regulated sector background; security and compliance automation; DORA metrics.
- Exposure to Agentic AI / GenAI for operational automation, incident remediation, or deployment validation.
